GOYANG, South Korea — ETBE Retail (now UKIUKI Corporation) announced the launch of two new products — UKIUKI Lamb and UKIUKI Tuna — at the 2015 G-Fair Korea Excellent Product Exhibition held at Kintex, Ilsan from November 5 to 8. These were the first freeze-dried lamb and tuna cat treats manufactured in Korea.
Korea’s First Freeze-Dried Lamb Cat Treat
While lamb-based cat treats were already common in markets like Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, no Korean manufacturer had produced one. UKIUKI changed that with UKIUKI Lamb, made from premium Australian lamb.
Lamb is an ideal protein source for cats. Compared to beef or pork, lamb offers higher amino acid content, lower fat, and higher protein — making it particularly well suited for obligate carnivores like cats, who require significantly more protein than humans.
UKIUKI Tuna: Trusted Sourcing
Alongside the lamb, UKIUKI also launched UKIUKI Tuna, made from Dongwon tuna — one of Korea’s most recognized seafood brands. Like all UKIUKI products, the tuna treats use freeze-drying technology to preserve nutrients without any additives or preservatives.
The UKIUKI Product Philosophy: Traceable Ingredients
What set UKIUKI apart from the beginning was its commitment to ingredient transparency. Every product clearly identifies the raw material source:
- UKIUKI Chicken — Harim chicken breast (Korea)
- UKIUKI Lamb — Australian lamb
- UKIUKI Tuna — Dongwon tuna (Korea)
All products are made from human-grade meat, freeze-dried to preserve nutritional value. This traceable sourcing approach earned strong trust from both veterinary hospitals and individual cat owners.
Growing Momentum
The lamb and tuna launch came just months after the successful debut of UKIUKI Chicken Breast earlier that year. CEO Ham Seung-Jin noted that the chicken treat had received strong response from animal hospitals and customers across Korea, and that the new flavors were developed based on direct customer feedback.
The G-Fair Korea exhibition — a major government-backed trade show for excellent Korean products — provided a high-profile platform for UKIUKI to reach new B2B and B2C audiences.
From Three Flavors to a Global Brand
The 2015 lineup of Chicken, Lamb, and Tuna formed the foundation of what would become UKIUKI’s core product range. Today, these treats are available on Amazon US, Amazon Japan, Rakuten, and through the UKIUKI online store.
