SEOUL, South Korea — On June 15, 2016, ETBE Retail (now UKIUKI Corporation) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GOM Exp, the company behind PetStay, a community-based pet-sitting service. The signing took place at GOMtv’s headquarters in Hapjeong, Seoul.

About the Partnership

The MOU established a framework for cooperation between the two companies. The shared goal was to improve the quality of companion animal services and promote a healthier pet care culture in Korea.

While UKIUKI brought expertise in premium cat nutrition and product development, PetStay contributed its platform for connecting pet owners with trusted, trained pet sitters.

What Is PetStay?

PetStay was a pet-sitting matching service operated by GOM Exp (a subsidiary of Gretech, known for the GOM Player media software). The platform allowed companion animal owners to:

  • Find and book verified pet sitters through a smartphone app
  • View standardized pricing and sitter qualifications
  • Access sitters who completed training and background verification

The service was designed to give pet owners peace of mind when leaving their animals in someone else’s care — a growing need as Korea’s pet ownership culture expanded.

UKIUKI’s Growing Industry Presence

By mid-2016, UKIUKI had already established itself as a recognized name in Korea’s cat product market through its freeze-dried treat lineup and participation in major events like the G-Fair Korea and K-Pet Fair.

The partnership with GOM Exp reflected UKIUKI’s ambition to go beyond product sales and contribute to the broader companion animal ecosystem in Korea — from nutrition to daily care services.
